• Visitor Information


    Your physician will order a diet plan just for you. Please do not have any food or drinks brought to you without consulting with the nurse or dietitian. You may be on a restricted diet, and certain foods may be prohibited. Food brought in from outside the hospital (if allowed by the physician) must be in a container with a tight-fitting lid and labeled with the patient’s name and the date.

    Guest trays are available for $4.50 to visitors who wish to dine with the patient. Simply advise your nurse several hours in advance of serving the meal. Guest tray charges must be paid in the cafeteria before the meal is served. The cafeteria is located on the second floor. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. seven days a week; snacks and refreshments for visitors are available 24 hours a day in vending machines located on the second floor.


    Visitor parking is provided in designated areas of the hospital lot. Spaces for handicapped parking also are available. While we strive to keep all areas of the hospital secure, we are not responsible for vehicle damage, fire or theft while parked in the hospital lot. If you wish to be escorted to and from the parking lot, please contact the unit secretary. Please observe the "Disabled Only" parking designations.

    Our lobby is open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. After hours, the doors are locked; please use the telephone located at the south side of the building for admission after hours. The security staff will provide escorts to and from cars, if desired.

    Family Concerns

    Family members may meet with clinical staff and physicians by arranging a family conference through the Social Services Department at (510) 357-8300 ext. 4550.

    Post-Hospital Care

    When your doctor determines you no longer need the specialized services of our hospital but still require medical care, he or she may discharge you to a skilled nursing facility, subacute facility, acute rehabilitation center or to home with home care. Our Discharge Planner will arrange any services you will need after leaving the hospital.

    Medicare and supplemental insurance policies have limited coverage for skilled nursing facilities, subacute facilities, acute rehabilitation centers as well as home health care. Check your policies to be certain what services will be covered.
